Variable Port Tuning Modes

Elastomer feet on the PC-4000 improve bass performance while reducing floor and wall vibrations, noise artifacts and complaints from neighbors or roommates. De-coupling a subwoofer from the floor results in inherently tighter and cleaner sounding bass. It’s also the next best thing to sound-proofing and ideal for carpeted rooms, hardwood floors or any space where room rattles, buzzes or vibrations are present.
Acoustically Inert and Rigidly Braced Ported Cylinder Cabinet Design

First off Ryan Wright at SVS is a rock star and takes customer service to the next level. Now onto the review.... Delivery was fantastic. I just had the opportunity to run my new PC-4000's through REW this weekend and thought I would share the results of Ported vs Sealed. I previously had dual PC-2000's and wanted a bit more as I moved and my media room is about 3400 cubic feet and its sealed with one door. More specs of the room: 20 ft x 20 ft with 9 ft ceiling. Its a square. Not ideal but its what I have. Note. I loved my PC-2000's. Just need to find them a new home. The subs are at the front Left and Right corners. I have them pulled out 6 inch's from back and 6 inch's from the side. I moved the out a foot but REW likes them best 6 niches. The front corners are the only spot the subs can go. I have them running off of a Marantz SR7011 with Martin Logan Motion 40's towers. 5.2 set up. Once I got the subs in the best location I loaded up REW and started to tinker with the app, which is amazing. I initially configured the subs to extended mode and ran audessy first with the subs at -10 volume/gain (per SVS). During Audessy I moved the subs volume/gain down to -15. Once Audessy was complete I moved the sub trim on the avr up to -5 db. I took out on my reference DVD of "How to train your dragon" scene 15. My kids love that movie and I know that scene very well. The room shook know doubt but it felt a little boomy. The nice thing about SVS is the ability to configure the subs in multiple formats (Extended, Standard, and Sealed) and then you can use the app to tweak. I then put the subs into the sealed mode and was pleasantly surprised on the accuracy and how low the subs were able to get. Shook the sofa and had a nice punch. After several other reference material including music I ran REW with the Minidsp UMIK-1 and measured both extended and sealed. I thought I was going to run it in Sealed mode but after more tweaking I have decided extended is the way to go. They sound amazing. Dual subs even out the peaks and nulls and blend seamlessly with my system. Very happy customer and I will purchase a pair of sb-3000's for my living room very soon. Thank you.
USBiggest Upgrade in years!!
I've gone through a few subs throughout my time when I put together my first real stereo. I started with a Definitive 15", and ended with a Velodyne HGS-10, which lasted over a decade. I never had complaints with the Velodyne, especially considering its size, but I remember when I first saw the original SVS cylinder subs. Back then it needed an external amp, and the design was different than everything else on the market. After seeing reviews, especially running a pair of them, I always wanted them but I was content with what I had for the time being. Once my Veldodyne finally died, I knew it was time to get the upgrade I always wanted. At first the idea of getting the PB16-Ultra was very appealing, but for my space, it wouldn't work out as well as I would have liked. I checked to see how the cylinders have progressed over the years, and I knew that I wouldn't be disappointed at getting a pair. I did the usual review reading, and talked with a couple of people from SVS who were extremely helpful in making my decision. The entire process of purchasing, and shipping was extremely smooth and I got the speakers in a few days. I got them placed, the stereo re-calibrated for the new speakers, and then did some tests. Blown away doesn't quite come close. These things are game changers. It's not that they're just loud (and they are, for sure!), but it's the depth at which everything now takes. From movies to music, everything now has a presence that simply wasn't there before. Everything moves you, and envelops you. And not just in a overpowered car stereo way with too much bass shaking your nose. The bass is clean, clear, and precise. They take any amount of abuse, and nimbly ease their way through it. Everything about them is top notch, and has lived up to my expectations that have been built over a decade of watching these subs since I first saw them. Not too many things can say they live up to the hype, and these exceed it. Just for some background, I set these up in extended mode from the start, as I wanted it to go deeper into the subsonic range. While this does take away some total output, I can't really imagine them putting out any more at this point. They are beyond extreme this way if I need them to be. If you are on the fence on getting these, I simply cannot imagine how you could be disappointed.
USNew PC-4000's
For several years, I've been using a pair of SVS PC12-NSD's. They were well built and good quality. For my HT, they had "adequate oomph". But, I decided that I wanted some subs with more "slam". I decided on a pair of PC 4000's. I'm quite satisfied with them and appreciate their sound and quality. No problems with them so far. One thing that would be nice to be included with these is some sort of a "one use, set of handles/wrap around band" for moving them. These are NOT small speakers and they are heavy. Once you get them out of the box, I could not find a good way of grabbing them to move them into final position. Other than this recommendation, I highly commend these speakers to others. I have the PC versions(vs. box types) due to a confined floor space area.
USDual SVS PC 4000s with Magnepans is a match made in heaven.
I started my SVS journey with a PB 16 Ultra. But my living room rejected it :( Dual PC-4000s fit perfectly! Both with looks and performance. I've tried other subwoofers, but dual PC-4000s in my living room are virtually perfect. I run Magnepan speakers front, center and surround. They are one of the fastest speakers on the market, and the PC's integrate well. I can not say enough about the PC 4000s other than I may end up purchasing 2 more for the back of my room. Thank you SVS. PS: I also purchased a pair of PB 2000s for my office/media room to pair with my Magnepan Mini desktop speakers. Their sound balance with the Maggies is fantastic!
