Transducer

A mechanical device that converts an electrical audio signal into physical vibrations or vice versa. A speaker driver is a transducer that converts an electrical audio signal into physical vibrations, while a microphone diaphragm is a transducer that converts physical vibrations caused by acoustic sound waves striking it into an electrical audio signal. A turntable stylus is another example of a transducer that converts physical vibrations into an electrical audio signal.
